Scorsese is totally making me see things, but I just LOVE the scene in which Sam 'Ace' Rothstein (Robert De Niro) asks Ginger (Sharon Stone) to marry him.
I love it, but you can see how Campbell improved in the decade. Perhaps I'm just crazy and my love for the movie Casino (1995) directed by Martin Scorsese and written by Nicolas Pileggi and the aforementioned Mr. That iconic hollow bell sound is great too that runs rampant in GoldenEye.Ĭampbell improved as a filmmaker between movies too and that's evidence in how the filming was done, how scenes flow. The soundtrack is more in line with classic Bond, although I do find GoldenEye's with some of it's late 80s early 90s synth cheese good. In Casino, everything has a crisp polish to it, the crane sequence feels visceral and real. GoldenEye has a really dated CGI satelite sequence and some wonky green-screen work when Trevelyan and Bond are fighting at the end on the Cradle. The effects work was better too in the 11 years.
It's great observe the difference between it and GoldenEye, Campbell's other Bond film.Īlso Campbell took more artistic liberties with this, the black and white sequences in the film, the gun barrel intro.
